Thanksgiving?
There are two theories about opposing Trump.
One is to let the Trump supporters sit in their mess.
The other is to “Do stuff!” — write your Senators and House Members, call them, protest, write your newspapers, run for office, correct the record, bail people out when they get in trouble because they believed Trump’s lies.
Tonight, I tried being helpful. A woman posted on Facebook that the North Carolina hurricane had ruined her house—her yard, the paint, and more—and she had just spent her last money getting it perfect to become an Airbnb. She didn’t know what to do. I advised her to contact FEMA--the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
She wrote back in her most demeaning voice, “Haven’t you paid any attention to the news? Joe Biden canceled FEMA.”
Well, no. Biden did not. She is wrong. FEMA has more than 2000 responders operating in NC.
Disaster Recovery Centers
FEMA has Disaster Recovery Centers in Asheville, Bakersville, Boone, Brevard, Hendersonville, Lenoir, Marion, Sylva, Waynesville, Jefferson, Newland, Old Fort, Sparta, and Morgantown. Housing, transitional shelter, commodity distribution, home inspections, and survivor assistance are just some of the support FEMA offers.
People can register online at DisasterAssistance.gov or call toll-free at 800-621-FEMA (3362) between 7 a.m. and 10 p.m.

BUT OOPS! I wanted to write about Thanksgiving. I’ll write more tomorrow — about what to say when the dark-ages curmudgeon at your table starts spouting off.
FOR NOW, do one thing: Call anyone you know in North Carolina (or Florida) and tell them that it is time to stop believing this nonsense and restack. We need to help these people in spite of themselves.
