Prissy is as Prissy Does
It's time to trade "prissy" for victory.
This is NOT the time for Democrats to be prissy. Do I hear you ask? What exactly is “prissy?”
Prissy is as prissy does … a little too judgmental, in search of perfect — obsessed with a "perfection" that doesn't exist, fussy about language, fussy about tattoos, and demanding 100% ideological purity on every single vote.
Need examples about when the prissy instinct kicks in, and Democrats lose? How about John Fetterman? — definitely not perfect. Look at John Fetterman. He isn't perfect. He wears shorts, he can be unconventional, and he sometimes lands on the "wrong" side of an issue that most Dems agree on. But he’s ours—and we should be glad to have him. He’s with us when it counts, and we must keep the welcome mat out. As he put it in his recent Washington Post op-ed, “I haven’t changed. Here’s what has.”
On the flip side, consider Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer who catches the prissy “disease” all too often. A recent unforced error was his obsession with recruiting Maine Governor Janet Mills to run for Senate. Mills, a governor to be proud of, eventually fell for Schumer’s “charm” campaign. Schumer then wasted a fortune in national funds trying to change Mainers’ minds. Mills was right in the first place; it was her time to retire honorably and let the next generation of Democrats step up.
Enter oyster farmer Graham Platner. Platner didn’t fit the Schumer “mold” — you know the one — Yale or Harvard, wealthy businessman on an ego trip to the Capitol. Platner was already ahead of the game when Mills jumped in, proving himself a tough campaigner who could withstand the barrage of nasty negative ads.
Platner is clear about where he stands: against "forever wars," against Trump’s tariffs that punish working families, and against the Trump-era Iran debacle. He stands with the working and middle class because he’s lived it. He served four tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, paying the price in lasting physical injuries and PTSD. Now, carefully mended by the VA, he’s ready to fight for us and our country in the halls of the US Senate.
And yeah, Platner’s got tattoos. So what!
