Meet Tommy Tuberville
Remember Alabama Senator Tuberville, who is holding up the confirmation of 650 generals and flag officers in the Senate? Now, he has been caught lying about his Dad's military service. This last is a much smaller thing, but why should it matter?
Essentially, Tuberville has already proven he has so little respect for our American military that he's trying to micromanage the whole military by holding up the Senate Confirmation of 650 generals and flag officers. Due to Tuberville's action, the Marine Corps doesn't even have a Commander for the first time in a century.
Frankly, there is no low to Tuberville, a man who doesn't even have enough respect for his Dad's military service to tell the truth about his Dad. Just make it a good story. Dad Tuberville's record wasn't bad, but somehow Tuberville has embellished it to the point that he shows exactly how little respect he has for the rank and file of our military. So call Tuberville's lies "frosting on the cake."
Just tell a story. Just make up a story. Just forget that 650 generals and flag officers are essential. Just forget how necessary generals and flag officers are to defend the United States of America. Just forget that Putin's war on Ukraine is a war that threatens world peace. Just forget that part of the U.S. security strategy is to be an active part of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). Just ignore that the world has gotten smaller; wars can expand fast, and both sides of the Atlantic Ocean have long worked together to ensure there will never be a WWIII. U.S. military readiness is a pillar of our strength, NATO's strength, and our related safety.
The Washington Post says Tuberville's story about his Dad has "false elements." Besides the age at which his Dad joined the military, what else did Tuberville lie about? Try this: Tuberville's Dad was drafted -- he did not voluntarily enlist; he did not lie about his age. Dad was not a tank commander, nor a Sargeant -- a requirement for tank commanders; nor did he earn 5 Stars, although he did get a Purple Heart for being lightly wounded. And Dad did not drive a tank down the Champs-Elysées on Aug. 29, 1944. Instead, the Army’s 28th Infantry Division marched. Dad Tuberville was 90 miles away.
In other words, Dad Tuberville was a good soldier loyal to the U.S. and fought for all of us. But no, this wasn't enough for Senator Tuberville as he went for a trumped-up "glamour" military story to distract from his attempt to tear down the readiness of the American Military.
Alabama is home to more than 11,900 active duty members, more than 22,000 reserve and National Guard personnel, and 420,000 veterans. Tuberville's actions are way beyond the norm; he insults every one of the loyal soldiers and veterans in Alabama and everywhere in the U.S. with his insurgent, traitorous behavior that risks our military readiness and jeopardizes our security. His actions are classic of traitors who attempt to tear down U.S. readiness. Shame on Tuberville.
